Dreamy destination wedding in Vis, Croatia

Although Croatia has always been on the list, the main reason behind our trip was a friends wedding. A couple of hardcore watersports junkies and committed travel bugs, the bride and groom were never going to settle for a wedding at home in the UK and planned a cross-island relay culminating with their big day in Vis. Sunrise in the City, Chicago

We managed to cram a lot into our weekend in Chicago and I was pretty satisfied that we’d covered our “must see” hit list for our first trip but on our last night I couldn’t sleep. Before we I had toyed with the idea of getting up at first light at some point during our stay, to hit the park for a run and get some photos of the city while most people were still sleeping, but I’m not usually a morning person and the realist in me knew that my chances of bounding out of bed at 5:30 were slim. So when I found myself suffering from insomnia the night before our departure, I decided it was an opportunity rather than a curse.

How to take stunning engagement photos without being cheesy

A couple of weeks ago a friend asked me if I could snap some photos for her Save the Date announcement. I was delighted to be asked and quickly started researching poses and ideas for the shoot before it really dawned on me - the pressure! Gill & Mark turned up at the beach full of nervous excitement and I knew straight away that we all needed to chill out if we were going to achieve the relaxed, fun photos that everyone was after. Most of us don't regularly practice modeling in our spare time, so posing in front of the camera can be intimidating, which is a great reason for engaged couples of have a little practice before their big day.
