The first time I went to Miami nearly 3 years ago, I really disliked it. I didn't really understand what all of the fuss was about, bars and restaurants seemed ludicrously over-priced and I found the "guest list only" attitude frustratingly pompous. I couldn't wait to get back to the laid back beach bars at home. Since that first trip, however, I've been back to Miami a number of times both for business and pleasure, and every time I go I like it more. It's a city that really grows on you. Skyscrapers and kites - not 2 words that usually go together in a sentence. Nor in a photo. Yet last weekend in Miami that's precisely what happened! On a weekend break to the big city, some friends took us out on their boat, rigged a kite up at the back (a first) and we spent the afternoon sharing it, riding the flat water out on the sandbar just off the coast of Florida. Awesome!
