We flew from Auckland to Perth – not the nicest of journeys as it’s a fairly long flight (7hrs) which takes you 3 hours back in time, leaving you rather discombobulated on landing. We didn’t have time for jet lag though as we were meeting two very special people on arrival in WA. Being reunited with our besties from Cayman was ridiculously exciting and they had a jam packed itinerary planned for our 5 day stay with them!
First up – the legendary Rottnest island. We’d heard so much about this little piece of paradise in Perth and the ritual of weekend raft-ups so we were full of anticipation as we set sail along the Swan River and out through Freemantle to the open ocean.
On a calm sunny day it wasn’t long before we arrived and much to everyone’s delight (cue shrieking) a pod of dolphins came out to welcome us! We celebrated with a picnic spread on board and more drinks with visitors from other boats.
As the saying goes, time flies when you're having fun and as the temperature started to cool indicating that nighttime was on it’s way, we pulled up the anchor and sped back to the mainland, singing into the sunset as we cruised into dock.
An unforgettable day out, and plenty more fun to come...
