Making the most of the calm weather a few weekends ago, we set our alarms to wake before the sun and go out fishing. On our first real adventure into offshore fishing, we headed to 12 mile bank, arriving at the fishing Mecca just as mr sun was donning his hat.
The boys set about getting rods and reels ready to catch our dinner while I concentrated on driving the boat in a straight line. Hearing of action from boats nearby and having had a few nibbles we were full of hope and excitement.
A couple of hours in however, the only thing out boat was starting to get full of was empty bottles…
Changing tactics, we started fishing with live bait and tried drifting rather than trolling.
Every day's a school day!
Sadly after a couple of bites got away, we decided to head back to shore and surrender to someone else providing lunch.
Catch has been open for a couple of months now and having enjoyed our dinner there when it first opened it's doors, we were looking forward to going back.
Hungry fisherman from the high seas, we ordered a variety of starters and mains and every one of them came out looking like a piece of art and tasting absolutely incredible. To sum up my faves:
The easier way to enjoy fresh catch!
We stopped on the journey home to cool off before heading to the famous Seven mile beach to catch sunset with some friends and visiting family.
Just another manic Sunday…..
