We spent our last 24 hours in Western Australia getting our bearings in Perth - starting with a morning jog around Kings Park which boasts the most incredible views of the whole city.
It's a great place to go for a run but if you're not that way inclined, head straight to Frasers cafe for a morning cup of a coffee and breakfast if you're hungry. Go early to avoid the tourists that flock there later in the day and enjoy the serenity of being perched high above the commuters scurrying around the roads and waterways below.
We were so taken with Kings Park that we returned there with a picnic to meet our hardworking, professional friends for lunch to drink in the view some more, before heading downtown to see everything from a different angle. We did our best to avoid street level, electing for a tour of Perth's rooftop bars. The Aviary takes 1st place in my book with a fabulous deck, cool tunes and delicious drinks - although with this company anywhere will do.
The Print Room was slightly more subdued but no doubt comes alive when offices spill out into the sunshine at happy hour. Speaking of sunshine, dinner was also an al-fresco affair with fish and chips on the beach in Cottesloe. We sat out basking in the sinking sun, reflecting on good times and toasting friendships as the rays melted into the ocean.
The perfect end to a perfect weekend.
