April is officially the month of birthdays. Over the last 15 days, no less than 5 close friends, 2 colleagues and my darling hubster have turned another year wiser. Not forgetting this one today!
Which is fine by me, because I subscribe to the theory that Birthday’s don’t belong to the individual, they’re for everyone to share! Who doesn’t like an excuse to indulge in cake and cocktails?!
Last week it was time to spoil these two beauties.
Starting with sundowners on the beach.
Having drinks at a hotel in the place where you live is guaranteed to make you feel like you’re on holiday. Just for an hour or two, wherever you live you, should try it. We’re particularly lucky to be able to go on a mini holiday in paradise any night of the week :) The Marriot has become one of our favourite places for a special occasion, since it reabranded itself as The Beach House, it really can’t do anything wrong in my eyes. Tonight was no different.
Hi Tide strummed out some tunes whilst the boys talked business and the girls gossiped, taking regular time outs to check out the view as the sky transformed from day to night.
As darkness fell we moved venues to Agua. I recently posted about it's baby sister, and this, now well established restaurants is one of our island favourites. The owner, Walter, is always at the door to welcome the “bella’s" and shake hands with their dates and it’s nice to be welcomed back to a place where everyone knows your name. Clearly we’re not the only people that think so because on a regular Wednesday night, the generously sizes venue was jam packed! These two were certainly pleased to be back.
Serving a mix of asian fusion, italian, seafood and Caribbean dishes, there’s something for everyone and in a true reflection of the menu we ordered a variety of dishes including my FAVE beef carpaccio on the planet.
Doesn't it look like it's just ready to melt? Well it does - in your mouth.
Followed by the obligatory desert….Birthday cake!
Side note – I had promised the birthday girl that I would make her a cake. Having left things to the last minute, I called the restaurant just hours before our reservation to ask if they could whip up a special pud as I had failed to produce anything. This is what they put together! Impressive to say the least and every bit as delicious as it looks – creamy chocolate and hazelnut mouse (yep, think nutella) oozing out from underneath a flakey pastry crust…..
The perfect evening to kick off a intensive schedule of celebrations!
