A couple of weeks ago the Ritz Carlton held a lunch with guest speaker Erin Brockovich in aid of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. I have a huge amount of respect for the amazing work that the Crisis Centre does in Cayman, having supported them through Ride Like a Girl, so I was delighted to be able to attend and support this event.
Most people know Erin Brockovich as the inspiring woman from the Oscar winning movie, and it was an honour to hear her speak with such passion about being motivated to use your life to make a change for good. I would admit that I can be guilty of getting caught up with my own life and it’s good to be reminded that there are people in less fortunate positions, and that there is room in my life to be more charitable, to be more motivated to help others, and to make the most of the privileged life I lead.
The Ritz hosted a seamless event as always and it was great to spend the afternoon with 400 of Caymans most successful and influencial women in one room. They also had a cool wishing tree where you could pledge your goal to make a difference in 2015.
Another experience unique to Cayman – where else in the world can you go for lunch with a few hundred women, most of whom you know, and listen to the likes of Erin Brockovich speaking during desert?
