I'm in Puerto Rico this week (more on that later), at a Bacardi conference for Women in Leadership. The meetings I've been invited to are a result of the fact that Bacardi employs a number of women in key roles, in what has traditionally been a very male dominated company in a male dominated industry.
The key note speaker was nothing short of sensational - Betsy Myers used to work in the White House as a member of senior staff to President Clinton and served as a senior advisor in Obama's winning Presidential campaign. She is an inspirational and fascinating lady - to both genders!
Betsy gave her original and refreshing view on what leadership actually means and how we can all make small changes in our behaviors to be a better leaders. Her tips on how to be a better leader also apply to keeping ourselves, as well as others, motivated and happy. Life is short so let's all work on bringing out the best in ourselves and each other. Her book - Take the Lead promises to be a great read.
I'm always going on about girls doing male dominated sports. Today I spent the day with a room full of girls kicking ass in a male dominated industry.
I feel a Spice Girls song coming on......
